"Professional Note"
My name is Sherma Lawrie and I am a candidate worthy of consideration. I am well respected as an upstanding, hard-working individual who can be counted on to "get the job done." Proudly, I continue to be recognized by past employers and people that I have served for resolving conflicts and assuring service in critical situations.
As a present Admissions Counselor at UMUC, past Academic Advisor, independent Guest Service Manager, Night Auditor, Senior Bank Teller/Toss, Office Assistant and a middle management employee, I have developed and demonstrated strong organizational, leadership, communication, and teamwork skills. I am also efficient at adapting quickly to new surroundings while on assignments. I have dealt with people in need in all of my previous work endeavors, using empathy and communicating easily with all levels of staff and customers in my care, following directions and taking the lead as required.
I carry myself in such a manner in which I strive to achieve success both in the workplace and in academia. My character, personality, and the ability to work in a team environment can be evidenced in a personal meeting. I welcome new career opportunities and strive to be nothing but the best. Thank you for your time in learning about me and I am certain that I can be a contributing member of your organization.
"Personal Note"
This MDE program aligned perfectly with my goals since it is my desire to remain in the education field as I am an active employee at the University of Maryland University College. On completion of this degree, it will take me one step closer to my career goals and future aspirations within management.
I love to cook, dance and to have lots of fun and to basically enjoy life outside of my career and working environment. I am a Trinidadian at heart and I try to fly home as much as I can, because my immediate family still resides there. Nonetheless, I love any island, the fresh air, the scenery and meeting people of different ethnicity and diverse backgrounds.
My greatest challenge in my life and in certain circumstances has always been time management. I have not had the opportunity prior to this program to experience online classes and I believe I am more prone to face-to-face interaction. However, although I've grown to love brick and mortar learning because of my personality but my current job won't permit me to do anything other than online classes. My online experience has provided me with the flexibility to obtain my graduate degree and this experience has been exceptional. It is now my preferred method of learning. However, I will and have conquered any obstacle I put my mind towards. With that said, I dream big and surround myself with others who have similar aspirations and wish my peers, family members and colleagues life-long health and a successful career as I intend to accomplish my own goals as well.
